Jay Reviews: MGMT - Congratulations

Posted by Jay - September 6th, 2012

Well, I just finished my latest review. You can read it here.

A week has passed since my last review, and since I'm trying to write at least one review a week I decided to go with something that I already know quite well. But I want to start reviewing new albums with a fresh state of mind. So, I'm waiting for you guys to give some good recommendations, preferably along with a link to where I can listen to the album in it's entirety. Just don't get mad if I don't like what you suggest. :P

Also, I'd like to hear some feedback. How are the reviews so far? Are they good? Do they suck? I'm willing to hear your opinion. And don't forget to leave a recommendation!

Sailing The Seas Of Cheese by Primus.

D'oh, but I know that album really well already.

Would you be willing to do video game soundtrack reviews? I know that titles like Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest have actual albums made. You can get official discs of them.

Video Game soundtracks would be fun, but I would need to have access to the entire album without actually purchasing anything. I'm not trying to spend any money I don't have right now. :P

I don't know if very many people on newgrounds know about it though.

I may review a Primus album eventually.

Who are you?

You need to work on your spelling.

MGMT is by far and away my favorite band. While Congratulations is very different from Oracular Spectacular, I have enjoyed both highly. You simply can't compare them, though. It's like asking if you'd rather drive without the accelerator pedal or the steering wheel. My favorite track off this album is Flash Delirium (which is also my favorite song in general). In essence, this is a neo-psychedelic surf album (as noted by the beautiful cover, and MGMT themselves) rather than the more rock-themed Oracular release.

My favorite song on Congratulations is the title track, and "Someone's Missing" But I enjoy every track.
